I've taken an interest in things astronomical for many years. I don't own a telescope but a pair of binoculars is useful for looking at the night sky. For the past few years I've tried a bit of astro-photography, using very simple equipment. This being no more than a 35mm SLR camera and telephoto lens, or a standard lens, on a tripod. Some sample pictures are included in the photo galleries (see menu).

I also have experienced three total solar eclipses;  Indonesia (1988), Curacao (1998) and Zimbabwe (2001). I went to Cornwall to see the 1999 eclipse but it was clouded out, so I don't count that.
